WHO WE ARE

The JERM School initiative is a not-for-profit initiative aimed at
bridging the widening digital divide in most marginalized societies in Africa and the world at large.
The organization is driven by innovations that enhance access to
ICT learning facilities such as learning material (content), computers,
computer accessories, and cheap and affordable Internet access.

What we do

We are constantly innovating and developing affordable systems, methods and products that bridge the ever-widening digital divide in the most marginalized societies. We partner and work with other institutions that share the same cause.

Our innovations are tailored for the harshest conditions on the planet. These include environments with no grid electricity, poor or no Internet access.

Our philosophy

We believe that the biggest threat to our generation is the ever-widening digital divide in the most marginalized societies on the continent. This results into inequalities in the population. These inequalities are manifested in terms of the growing un employment, illiteracy, poor or access to information etc.

Our approach to this cause is to research, innovate and develop solutions geared towards filling in the missing gaps to enhance ICT access.

The main design goal of our solutions is affordability as compared to the conventional off the shelf options.

Its worth mentioning that our innovations are NOT replacements of the conventional options but rather supplementary.

Our products

We have developed the SOMA KIOSK, a robust ICT access box for deployment in the most isolated areas on the planet.

This kit is well fitted with computers, Internet access and is powered off the grid using solar energy.

The kiosk contains e-learning resources off a local server hosted in the same enclosure.
The KIOSKS come in varying sizes and capacity of occupancy from 20 students to 100 students.
The cost of development and deployment is at about 1/5th the cost of the equivalent conventional options.

The goal is to deploy about 1,000,000 SOMA KIOSKS in the most isolated and
marginalized areas of the planet by the end of a five (5) year period.
